What are high-frequency words?Updated a year ago

High-frequency words are words that appear commonly in children’s books, like as and she. Many high-frequency words are irregular in that they do not feature the normal letter-sound correspondences, examples include the, was and is. A small number of high-frequency words are worth learning to identify quickly by sight to boost kids' reading fluency.
